Multe dintre glumele inspirate sau cele mai nesărate vin şi ca urmare a faptului că Vasluiul se află în topul sărăciei naţionale, dar şi al infracţionalităţii. Vasluienii sunt nelipsiţi la ştirile de la ora 5, aşa cum apar, pe de altă parte, pe covorul roşu de la Cannes, în cele mai elitiste universităţi din lume sau în celebre centre de cercetare. Plecăm de la ideea că ironia este un apanaj al tuturor românilor şi glumele fac parte din tradiţia poporului, de la clasicii Păcală şi Tândală, până contemporana Marşica.

Un tânăr dintr-un sat vasluian este dus la postul de politie şi sancţionat cu amendă contraventională , întrucât era băut. - Nu e adevărat, nu eram beat. Am avut de gând să mă îmbăt, dar am terminat banii şi m-am oprit din băut. Politistul : tentativa se pedepseşte.
